To replicate the environment on which most of their games wil be played, competitive teams in the Select program practice mainly on turf while recreational teams in the Youth program train primarily at Tiffany Hills on grass fields.
Home Practice Facility:
Unified Legacy’s home field is currently Tiffany Hills Soccer Complex, which is at 8300 NW Old Tiffany Springs Rd, KCMO.
Turf Facilities:
We also use turf fields throughout the Northland, most often at KC Current Training Facility, Park Hill High School and Park Hill South.
Indoor Facilities:
For indoor practices, the club uses a variety of locations, including HyVee Arena, Soccer Dome, Parkville Field House and Riverside Community Center. We are always exploring additional options, but we work to stay in or close to the Northland.
Generally, no. Unified Legacy works hard to find qualified coaches who share a similar style of play and love of the game. We compensate them for their time, skill and coaching education. All our coaches are USYS licensed and are continuing to pursue additional coaches education/licensing/training throughout their coaching journey. A large portion of the club fees go to pay our coaches. At times, we have parents who volunteer to coach a team; these volunteer coaches are vetted equally as much as our paid coaches.
Unified Legacy Club:
Unified Legacy is a soccer club comprised of teams at both recreational and competitive levels. The primary club functions are to recruit players, form teams and develop our athletes. Each Unified Legacy team selects an appropriate league based on team/player development, where they would have the opportunity to play games against other teams from across the metro area.
Heartland Soccer League, Paragon Star
These are entities that run competitive leagues and tournaments in the KC metro area. They facilitate scheduling games for the teams that have registerd, along with providing fields and referees. They do NOT have in-house teams or coaches.
Northland Sports Alliance (NSA):
Northland Sports Alliance (NSA) is an entity that runs a youth recreational league in the Northland. It is common for Unified Legacy developmental youth teams to play in this league. NSA does also offer in-house teams that players can be assigned to by signing up as independent player. Unified Legacy registers for this league as a team so we maintain full control of our roster, coach, and practice plan. NSA only provides game scheduling, game fields, and referee assignment to Unified Legacy Youth teams.
Youth/Recreational Teams:
Recreational teams participating in the Northland Sports Alliance league play at two fields: Tiffany Hills Sports Complex and Mark L. McHenry Park.
Select Program:
Competitive teams in the Select program will play at a number of fields, dependent upon which league that team selects for the season.
Teams playing in the Heartland league are hosted at four complexes, exclusively on lit turf fields: Scheels Overland Park Soccer Complex; Garmin Olathe Soccer Complex; Compass Minerals Sporting Fields; and Swope Soccer Village.
Teams playing in the Paragon Star league will play games at the Paragon Star soccer complex.
Premier teams playing in a Regional league such as MADL or Midwest Conference will have games in and out of Kansas City and at any number of fields as teams are responsible for identifying and securing their own fields at this level.
Youth Program
Recreational teams playing in NSA league will have games on Saturdays and in the afternoon on Sundays.
Select Program
Competitive teams will play most league and tournament games on Friday evenings, Saturdays, and Sundays. Some Premier teams may have the ocasional weekday game when playing local opponents.
Yes. A Fall and Spring tournament is included in the annual cost for players on competitive teams in the Select program. The Club works with the coaches to select appropriate tournament options for each team, locally and regionally.
Tournaments are an option for older recreational teams but are an additional cost.
Unified Legacy generally organizes teams by birth year, even for teams playing in a recreational league with the exception of those in Kindergarten. It is the aim for all Unified Legacy teams to build toward competitive play and forming by birth year early helps keep teams together longer and able to compete without an age disadvantage.
Unified Legacy teams participate in a variety of leagues, which establish age requirements to ensure an environment conducive to fair play.
Most recreational leagues accept teams by grade level. However, competitive leagues generally follow the U.S. Soccer birth year matrix, which requires each team to play in the division that aligns with the birth year of the eldest player(s).
Unified Legacy is a not-for-profit organization. The costs to the player are representative of the cost the club incurs in supporting the needs of our players, teams and coaches. For our most current pricing, send us an email at info@unifiedfc.org
