New Unified FC Board of Directors

Welcoming New Board of Directors

The Unified FC Foundation has welcomed three new members to its Board of Directors.

  David Bleyenberg

David brings to Unified FC extensive experience and knowledge with playing soccer, coaching and team development. David has played soccer since he was young, often for coaches that have gone on to play professionally and/or coach at top level college programs. David has been part of the Unified FC family for the last three years as a parent and assistant coach. His son, Parker, plays on Unified FC’s Arsenal 08 team.

His focus is on ‘kid development’ and he is passionate about the long-term growth of both the player and the person. He believes that development 5-10 years down the road is more important than the number of medals on the wall or the score of the last game. His priority is to further reinforce that Unified FC will provide a community where youth can learn and grow, and he hopes that Unified can contribute to the development of truly ‘good people.’

  Elizabeth McMahan

Elizabeth grew up in a soccer family. As a kid, she traveled each weekend from Topeka to Kansas City to play at Heartland and her first job was as a referee, keeping preschoolers (and their parents) in line. Her two daughters, Mary (2nd grade) and Samantha (Kindergarten) play for Coach Jamie, Coach Karim & Coach Rohan. She took her turn coaching each of her two girls for one season in preschool; they joined Unified FC shortly after for what she says are ‘obvious reasons’.

Elizabeth has worked in advertising for 15+ years, specializing in media and communication strategy. She has worked at agencies in Denver, Chicago & Kansas City. She has worked with many types of clients but her favorites have been MillerCoors Brewing, Eukanuba and Dairy Queen. She hopes her marketing experience can benefit the club through improved communication with players and families while also increasing awareness of the Unified FC vision to reach more members of the community.

  Sara Meinhard

Sara grew up playing a variety of team and individual sports but, unfortunately for Sara, not soccer. However, Sara’s son, Thomas (2nd grade), plays for Coach Scott and Coach Marcus and absolutely loves the game and his coaches. He enjoys learning the skills of soccer but, more importantly, the Unified FC coaches also teach Thomas and his teammates about being part of a team, realizing their own, unique potentials, and life lessons the players can use outside of soccer as they grow into respectful adults. It is this commitment to the players, the sport, and the community that drew Sara to wanting to volunteer for Unified FC.

Sara is the Senior Director, Senior Corporate Counsel & Litigation Lead at Cerner Corporation, handling litigation around the globe for Cerner. Her skills as a lawyer advising companies large and small as they navigate legal risks will help Unified FC as it continues to grow. Sara hopes her ability to balance differing perspectives, evaluate strategy and risk, and communicate clearly with a diversity of people will be of value to Unified FC as Unified FC pursues its mission to provide opportunities for young people and our community to develop healthy life skills and team skills through soccer.

David, Elizabeth and Sara are welcomed additions to the Unified FC Board.  Each of them bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to assisting our club moving forward during this unprecedented time. Thanks to all of them for stepping up and bringing fresh ideas to the table.
